About
Born in the USSR, doing American jokes with a face that suggests none of them are jokes.
Artem Mashkov left the Soviet Union for South Brooklyn and spent the next thirty years there. The act is dark, deadpan, and built on the part of the immigrant experience nobody puts in the brochure: geopolitics, superstition, and a childhood that keeps therapists employed.
He won the residency at The Stand, made the semifinals of the Laughing Buddha Festival, and opened for Ahmed Al-Kadri. Back in Geneva he's a regular at Expat Comedy. The laugh usually lands a beat after the audience checks whether they're allowed to.
